Requirements for Georgians

Italy is a country on many traveler’s bucket lists thanks to its stunning and historical architecture, delicious food, and sprawling nature. From the colorful houses of Cinque Terre to the rolling fields of Tuscany, the fashion-forward city of Milan, or the beautiful Colosseum in Rome, Italy has it all.

However, Georgians traveling to Italy should note that in 2021, the European Union will introduce a new security measure called the European Travel Information and Authorization System, or ETIAS for short. Citizens of more than 60 countries — including Georgia — will be required to apply for their ETIAS if they wish to visit Italy.

ETIAS Requirements for Georgian citizens

The process to obtain an ETIAS authorization is very simple. In fact, there are only three ETIAS Italy requirements for Georgians, which include the following:

  • A current Georgia-issued passport
  • A valid form of payment (debit or credit card)
  • A valid email address

Once travelers have gathered these required items, they are now ready to apply for the EITAS to visit Italy. This is done by completing an ETIAS application form from their internet-enabled device. The application takes less than 15 minutes to complete and will ask simple questions such as the traveler’s personal information (full name, contact details), passport information, and questions regarding their criminal record and past travel history.

During the application, Georgian travelers will have to declare which Schengen country they will be entering first. This is due to the fact that the ETIAS authorization will be checked, and because Georgian citizens can stay in the Schengen zone for up to 90 days within a 180-day timeframe. Travelers should note, however, that obtaining an ETIAS authorization does not guarantee entry into the Schengen zone, and the ultimate decision is made by the border patrol officers at the arrival country.

After The application is complete, it usually takes minutes to get approved. However, in rare cases it may take up to three business days (72 hours) if there is high demand or if the application needs to be checked further.

Families traveling with children must note that minors should apply for their ETIAS separately from their parent(s). If a parent fills out their child’s ETIAS application on their behalf, the parent has to submit their personal information along with the application in order to successfully submit it.

Personal information for the ETIAS Italy

During the EITAS Italy for Georgians application, travelers will need to provide some information about themselves. This includes the following:

  • Full name (first and last name)
  • Date of birth and place of birth
  • Gender
  • Contact information (including address and email)
  • Passport identification number
  • Passport issue and expiration date
  • Nationality (as noted on passport)

Please note that the information stated above will be sent to various European security agencies, such as Interpol and EURODAC, and may be used to find out more information about the applicant. Any application that was flagged may be rejected. However, applications can appeal the rejection by providing further information about their situation.

What documents do I need for the ETIAS Italy?

The only requirement needed to obtain an Italian ETIAS is a valid and current Georgian passport. The traveler’s passport must remain current throughout the entire application process and upon entry into Italy. Likewise, the passport must have at least three months validity after the traveler plans to exit the Schengen zone.

The ETIAS Italy for Georgians is valid as long as the passport it is “attached” to is also valid.
If the passport expires during this timeframe, the ETIAS will be rendered invalid, and the traveler will need to apply for a new authorization.

The ETIAS for Italy is valid for three years and grants the holder entry into any of the Schengen zone countries. This means that travelers will not need to apply for separate authorizations if they wish to travel between Schengen countries.

Medical info for Georgian citizens

etias medical information

Although it is generally a good idea to check for required vaccination before embarking on a trip, Georgian citizens traveling to Italy will be pleased to know that they do not need any specific vaccines prior to entering the country.

As a precaution, we recommend consulting your nearest healthcare professional in order to be informed about any ongoing health advisories in Italy or in Georgia. It is also recommended that travelers buy sufficient medical insurance when traveling abroad, as this can help with costs associated with emergency and clinic visits should anything happen. To be quickly connected with emergency medical services in Italy, travelers should dial 112.

ETIAS Italy Benefits for Georgian citizens

The goal of the ETIAS is to curb terrorism and other threats to national safety with the European Union generally. Georgian travelers will feel safer knowing that there is increased security within Italy and the rest of the EU states.
