Requirements for Georgians
In 2026, the European Union will introduce a new entry requirement for Georgian nationals: ETIAS.
The European Travel Information and Authorisation System will grant entry to 30 European countries.
Citizens of more than 50 visa-exempt countries — including Georgia — will be required to apply for their ETIAS to visit Italy.
ETIAS requirements for Georgian citizens
TheGetting an ETIAS authorisation is very simple. There are only 3 ETIAS Italy requirements for Georgians, which include the following:
- A valid passport
- A valid form of payment (debit or credit card)
- An email address
Apply for ETIAS in a few minutes
Once Georgian travellers have all the requirements, they are ready to apply for their ETIAS Italy.
Georgians can fill out the online form from a device connected to the internet. The application takes a few minutes to complete.
It’s necessary to enter personal and passport data. All travellers must answer some security questions.
While applying, the traveller needs to select the country of first intended entry. ETIAS grants a stay of up to 90 days in the Schengen area.
Even if ETIAS is approved, entry to Italy or other Schengen member countries is not guaranteed. Border officials determine who can enter the Schengen zone.
Once the application is submitted, the system usually takes a few minutes to process it. However, it might take up to 72 hours to process ETIAS applications. It’s advised to apply to take this into consideration.
Everyone, including minors, must have a valid ETIAS upon arrival in Italy. Parents or guardians may complete the form on behalf of their child/children.
Personal information for the ETIAS Italy
During the ETIAS Italy for Georgians application, travellers must enter the following details:
- Full name (first and last name)
- Date of birth and place of birth
- Gender
- Contact information (including address and email)
- Passport identification number
- Passport issue and expiration date
- Nationality (as noted on passport)
Information on an application is contrasted against security databases such as Interpol and EURODAC.
If an application is flagged, the respective ETIAS team will investigate further. If an ETIAS application is rejected, the traveller has the right to appeal and provide additional documents.
What documents do I need for the ETIAS Italy?
A valid passport issued by Georgia or any of the other visa-exempt countries.
The traveller’s passport must remain current throughout the entire application process and upon entry into Italy.
Likewise, the passport must have at least 3 months of validity after the traveller plans to exit the Schengen zone.
The ETIAS Italy for Georgians is valid as long as the passport it is “attached” to is also valid.
If the passport expires before ETIAS, the authorisation becomes invalid. Therefore, to travel to Italy again, it’s necessary to reapply for ETIAS.
The ETIAS for Italy is valid for 3 years and grants the holder entry into any of the Schengen zone countries. Travellers will not need to apply for separate authorisations if they wish to travel between Schengen countries.
Medical info for Georgian citizens
Georgian citizens travelling to Italy do not need any specific vaccines prior to entering the country.
It’s advised to have medical and travel insurance when visiting Italy in case of an emergency.
To be quickly connected with emergency medical services in Italy, travellers should dial 112.
ETIAS Italy benefits for Georgian citizens
ETIAS is simply an electronic authorisation available through an online application. It will be easy to get.
The visa waiver will contribute to smoother travel and quicker migration checks.
Furthermore, ETIAS grants its holder free movement within the Schengen area.
