Requirements for Peruvians

ETIAS requirements for Peruvian citizens

Italy will launch the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) in 2026 for Peruvians and several other eligible nationalities.

This new EU visa waiver system will be available in Schengen member countries for foreign visitors who are currently eligible for visa-free travel.

The ETIAS travel authorisation to visit Italy will be introduced for several reasons, the most important being reinforcing the security of the Schengen Area.

The ETIAS Italy for Peru will allow visitors to easily obtain authorisation to travel online in a matter of minutes, given that they meet the following ETIAS Italy requirements:

  • Complete the ETIAS application form
  • Have a valid Peruvian passport
  • Pay the ETIAS processing fee
  • Have an active email address to receive the ETIAS visa waiver.

What are the accepted travel purposes to obtain ETIAS Italy for Peru?

Peruvian passport holders will be able to apply for an ETIAS Italy if they intend to travel for tourism, leisure, family visits, or business.

On the other hand, travellers from Peru who wish to study, work, or reside in Italy will have to apply for a traditional Italian visa. This must be done in person through the nearest Italian embassy or consulate.

Can Peruvians visit other Schengen countries with ETIAS Italy?

Yes. Peruvian nationals will be allowed to visit other Schengen member countries with an ETIAS Italy visa waiver. However, they will have to indicate the member state of the first entry in the application form.

Do Peruvian children need an ETIAS to visit Italy?

Peruvian minors and children travelling on their parents’ passports will also need to obtain an ETIAS Italy.

However, parents or legal guardians can complete the application form on behalf of their children. They will need to provide their personal information when completing an ETIAS Italy application for a minor.

Passport Requirements for the ETIAS Italy for Peruvian Nationals

The most important document needed to apply for an ETIAS Italy is a Peruvian passport. The passport has to be valid at least 3 months beyond the date of departure from Italy.

If the passport expires before that, the applicant must obtain a new one and start another application process.
