Requirements for Venezuelans
Currently, Venezuela is one of more than 50 countries whose citizens may enter Italy without a visa. However, from 2026, Venezuelans who are planning a trip to Italy will need to apply for an ETIAS to visit Italy.
The ETIAS, which is also known as the European Travel Information and Authorisation System, is an online system where Venezuelans can apply for a visa waiver. This process takes less than 15 minutes to complete and will allow Venezuelans to travel to Italy and the Schengen area freely.
ETIAS requirements for Venezuelan citizens
To satisfy the ETIAS Italy requirements for Venezuelans, all applicants will need to have the following 3 items when applying:
- A valid Venezuelan-issued passport
- A valid debit or credit card to be used to pay the ETIAS application fee
- A current email address
Travellers who have successfully gathered all of these requirements can apply for their ETIAS Italy for Venezuelans.
The application form has questions about the traveller’s personal details, passport information, recent travels, and criminal record.
The form should take less than 15 minutes to fill out and is usually processed instantly. However, in rare cases, it may take up to 72 hours.
When applying for the ETIAS, Venezuelan citizens must state which Schengen country they will enter first. In this regard, Venezuelans are able to stay within the Schengen Zone for up to 90 days within a 180-day time limit.
Likewise, all ETIAS applications are sent to a couple of different EU security databases, such as VIS and Interpol. ETIAS applications that are flagged during the background check will be manually reviewed by an ETIAS officer and given a final decision.
If the traveller’s application is rejected, he or she has the right to appeal by providing additional documentation for the ETIAS officers to review.
Venezuelan minors must also have a valid ETIAS upon arrival in Italy. Parents or guardians may submit an application on behalf of their child, and should also include their details showing the relationship to the minor.
Personal information for the ETIAS Italy
Venezuelans travelling to Italy will need to submit the following information as part of their ETIAS application:
- Applicant’s full name (first and last name)
- Date of birth
- Place of birth
- Gender
- Current address
- Phone number
- Email address
- Passport number
- Passport’s date of issue and expiry date
- Nationality
What documents do I need for the ETIAS Italy?
The most important document a Venezuelan traveller needs when they apply for an ETIAS passport is their Venezuela-issued passport.
The passport must be valid when the traveller submits their application and when they enter the Schengen zone (either Italy or another country). The passport must also be valid for a minimum of 3 months after the day the traveller plans to leave Italy and/or the Schengen area.
If the traveller’s passport expires before they have a chance to travel, he or she will need to apply for a new passport, and subsequently for a new ETIAS permit.
Once the traveller’s ETIAS has been approved, it is valid for 3 years. Travellers may not renew their ETIAS once the timeframe is up, but they may apply for a new one.
Medical info for Venezuelan citizens
Venezuelan citizens can feel safe knowing that there are currently no health advisories or travel warnings for those travelling to Italy. However, we still recommend future visitors to stay alert and read the news of developments in both Venezuela and Italy.
Venezuelan travellers should make sure that their current health coverage will be valid during their travel. Any travellers that need to carry prescription medications must make sure that the medication is clearly labelled.
Travellers who are experiencing a medical issue can reach emergency services in Italy by calling 112.
ETIAS Italy Benefits for Venezuelan citizens
